Nyaberi extends conciliatory gesture to opponent, focusing on sport's advancement and collaboration.

On Saturday, Charles Nyaberi was elected as the president of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) during the eagerly awaited national elections held at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Nyaberi's long-standing presence in the volleyball administration world proved to be a key factor in securing his win, as he garnered 117 votes against his sole competitor, David Kilundo, who is a Director of Operations at the Kenya Prisons Service, with 103 votes.

Upon his victory, Nyaberi reached out to Kilundo, highlighting their mutual commitment to the sport regardless of the election outcome.

"I have worked with Kilundo before and I will continue working with him for the betterment of the sport. The elections are over and we hit the ground running,” he stated as per Nation.

Nyaberi wasted no time in outlining his priorities for his tenure as he  expressed a desire to forge a closer relationship with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) by establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This MoU aims to reevaluate the technical bench of the Malkia Strikers, Kenya's national women's volleyball team.

"We need and appreciate FIVB coaches' expertise," Nyaberi acknowledged, "But we feel that more local tacticians should be attached to them so that we can learn from them and be able to stand on our own in future activities."

The newly elected president expressed gratitude to the delegates who entrusted him with the leadership of the federation for the next four years.

Nyaberi's victory speech echoed a sense of responsibility and eagerness to serve the volleyball community with dedication and innovation.

His track record and vision for the sport have ignited a wave of optimism among stakeholders, who eagerly anticipate the positive impact of his leadership.

In a gracious display of sportsmanship, David Kilundo gracefully conceded defeat.

Kilundo, a recognized figure within the Kenya Prisons Service and the volleyball circuit, pledged to continue serving the sport with unwavering passion and commitment.

"While the election results did not swing in my favor this time," Kilundo remarked, "I remain dedicated to contributing to the growth and success of volleyball, whenever I am called upon and in my own capacity."

The elections also brought forth an exciting change in the federation's leadership structure.

Paul Bitok, the accomplished head coach of the Malkia Strikers, secured the position of deputy president.

Kenneth Tonui was elected as the vice president, marking a collaborative approach to the sport's governance.

As the federation embarks on a new era under Nyaberi's guidance, stakeholders and enthusiasts eagerly await the innovative strategies and initiatives that will shape the trajectory of Kenyan volleyball over the next four years.
