The African Table Tennis Champions will start his journey in the Russian League on Saturday.
The African Table Tennis Champion, Quadri Aruna, has maintained his position as the best player on the continent.
Aruna maintained his 14th place in the International Table Tennis Federation's (ITTF) January world table tennis ranking.
African Players rankings
According to the latest ITTF rankings, Egypt's Omar Assar, who is still ranked second in Africa, is now ranked 24th in the world.
Ahmed Saleh of Egypt fell two places to 75th in the world and third in Africa, while Ibrahima Diaw of Senegal and Mehdi Bouloussa of Algeria round out the top five after finishing fourth and fifth with total points of 277 and 213, respectively.
In the women’s category, Dina Meshref of Egypt maintained her position in Africa with 940 points and placed 27th in the world.
14-year-old Hana Goda placed second in Africa with 685 points and 38th in the world; the third-best woman in Africa remains Mariam Alhadoby, who is ranked 51st in the world.
Other Nigerians on the ranking
Nigerians and Egypt dominated the African table as U-19 Champion Taiwo Mati dropped two spots from 97 to 99 with 192 points.
Bode Abiodun ranked 235 while Olajide Omotayo ranked 235, Azeez Solanke ranked 235 and Samuel Boboye was ranked 261in the world.
West Africa champion, Fatimo Bello, retained her 64th position in the women’s category, Offiong Edem is placed 154th with 155 points, and seven-time Olympian Olufunke Oshonaike is Nigeria’s third-best player and 159th in the world.
Aruna begins his Journey in Russian League this weekend
Aruna will start his journey in the Russian table tennis league as the defending champion, Fakel-Gazprom Orenburg, unveiled the player earlier this week at a colorful occasion in Moscow.
