Buhari honors Victor Osimhen with the MFR, Davido with OON.
Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles and Napoli, is one of the Nigerians receiving national honors from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Osimhen joins David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born in the United States.
Buhari honors Osimhen and Davido
Following Buhari's approval, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs offered awards in a variety of categories for select Nigerian nationals and friends.
Davido was given the Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON) for his achievements in the music business, for which he has received international acclaim.
The honor comes after Davido was flown by PUMA to witness Manchester City lift the Premier League.
Osimhen, a Nigerian football player, received an MFR (Member of The Order of Federal Republic) for his exceptional play, which helped Napoli win its first Serie A championship in 33 years.
Before May 31, the ministry requested a soft copy of the citation or CV from each awardee.
Additionally, on June 1, 2023, they must be present in person to receive their medals and diplomas.
Osimhen, who recently scored Napoli FC's 25th league goal, assisted in the team's first Serie A Scudetto in 33 years.
