Super Eagles AFCON group preparation for Guinea
Nigeria's Eagles are in Group A of the 24-country, four-week finals, together with Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau, Africa's other two Guinean nations, and the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the Syli Nationale emerged as one of the most formidable teams in Africa, taking home silver at the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ethiopia and giving the more established teams a serious competition both in the Africa Cup and in FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
Guinea vs Super Eagles history
At the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, the Eagles defeated Syli Nationale 1-0 in a group round match.
In a FIFA World Cup qualifying match played in Conakry back in 1981, Syli Nationale managed to hold the Eagles to a 1-1 draw.
A long-range Henry Nwosu goal to the far corner of Abdoulaye Keita's goal gave Nigeria the victory in Lagos back in 1981.
While Syli Nationale held the Eagles to a 1-1 draw in a FIFA World Cup qualification match in Conakry.
Super Eagles vs Guinea Preview
The game on Monday is set to take place at Bani Yas Stadium, and it will undoubtedly provide some insight into Coach Peseiro's thoughts over his starting lineup for the opening round of Africa's premier football tournament the following weekend.
With forward Kelechi Iheanacho sidelined by injury, the remaining twenty-four members of Nigeria's 25-man roster met in the Gulf earlier this week and began training in advance of the continental showpiece.
After the friendly against Guinea, the team will travel to the Ivorian capital on Wednesday, January 10.

Following victories in 1980, 1994, and 2013, Nigeria is vying for a fourth African title, which would level them with Ghana, their fiercest rival in West Africa, and leave only Egypt (seven titles) and Cameroon (five wins) ahead of them.
The Super Eagles will play their first game is against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
Then the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire on January 18, followed by a match against the Guinea Bissau Wild Dogs on January 22, in their last group round match.
