Just as a section of the Manchester United faithful were demanding forward Mason Greenwood gets re-called after his rape charges against his girlfriend were dropped, another of their player, Antony, is set for trouble.
According to ESPN Brazil, Antony’s ex-lover Gabriela Cavallin filed a police report on Monday June 5 at the 5th Women’s Police Station, in Tatuapé, East Zone of São Paulo, Brazil.
In the report, Cavallin claims that she and Antony had a relationship for two years, having lived with him in Amsterdam, Netherlands, while he played for Ajax, and later in Manchester.
First Attack
According to Cavallin as reported by ESPN Brazil, the first attack took place in July 2022, after she ended her relationship with Antony at a party at a nightclub in Vila Olímpia, in São Paulo.
She claims that Antony removed her from the club with the help of security, before pulling her by the arm and pushing her against a car.
The incident report, apparently seen by ESPN, claims that she was 17 weeks pregnant at the time. Cavallin adds that she lost her baby on July 21st, 2022, but does not relate this to the fact the first attack came in the same month as the loss of her child.
Despite the first incident, Cavallin then started to date Antony again in August of that year, and moved with him from Holland to Manchester.
Second Attack
It is said in the report that Antony attacked her for “reasons of jealousy,” causing the displacement of her silicone prosthesis.
She then was attended by two Manchester United doctors and had to undergo surgery in Presidente Prudente, in São Paulo, in April 2023.
More Brutality from Antony
ESPN Brazil further adds that; Cavallin then reported two more physical attacks that happened in England, with one having been witnessed by a friend of hers, as well as by Antony’s mother.
The report mentions that she was injured with a cut to her finger due to a glass broken by Antony – a photo of the scar was attached to the police report.
That same day, Antony is said to have attacked her again and broken her phone so she could not ask for help. Cavallin claimed that she only managed to leave the scene five hours later when Antony’s physiotherapist took her to see a doctor.
Murder and Suicide Threats
Cavallin also reported that Antony threatened her on May 20th, 2023. Antony is said to have called her and said that “if he saw her with someone, he would kill her”.
She informed the police of a fear of Antony having access to a firearm because of his strong financial position, and also because he “still has many friends in the community where he was born”.
In the report, there are also details in which Antony showed “emotional loss” by stating that he would “kill himself” after fights between the couple.
Since the 28th of May, the last day of the Premier League, Cavallin claims to have had no further contact with the 22 year-old.
The police have thus requested “urgent protective measures” against Antony. She presented photos of injuries that would have been caused by the athlete’s aggression and said she also had other elements to present as evidence in the investigation.
