However, while some feel Nakivubo Stadium will bring a new lease of life into the sports sector, others have poked holes into the stadium's standards and believe there's nothing worth celebrating.

While most Ugandans celebrate the newly renovated Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, a different section is clearly not buying into the excitement.

The historical stadium is nearing full completion after seats, playing turf and various other specifics were installed.

However, while some feel Nakivubo Stadium will bring a new lease of life into the sports sector, others have poked holes into the stadium's standards and believe there's nothing worth celebrating.

Journalist Gabriel Buule, who has stressed the facility can only be equated to a training ground, has questioned whether stadium developer Hamis Kiggundu fully utilized the space allocated.

"There's nothing to celebrate about Ham Kiggundu constructing a training ground like 'stadium'," he said on his social media handles.

"Our role is to ask if that thing is worth the arcade space we gave him under that crafty PPP (Public Private Partnership) arrangement."

"Let's not get excited by that plastic turf and LED lights," Buule added.

Meanwhile, Researcher Mathias Ssemanda questioned the standards of the stadium, asserting that the excitement is related to Ugandans' in-exposure to what happens elsewhere.

"Ugandans are really taken for a joke always. Is it because we haven't been exposed to what's being done elsewhere?"

It's unlikely Nakivubo Stadium will fit the required FIFA standards upon completion, especially because of the artificial turf and its location.
