In a display of true Ugandan spirit, the Lacrosse men's national team proudly showcased the African Kitengi fabric on the world stage during the opening ceremony of the World Championships held in San Diego on Wednesday evening.
As the sole African representative at the championships, the Uganda team was responsible for presenting African fashion by donning well-tailored Kitengi shirts.
Initially utilised by Arab merchants, Kikoy has now gained immense popularity as one of the most sought-after fabrics.
Its distinct rolled fringes, intricate woven designs, and striped sides create exquisite patterns that subtly represent the colours of the national flag, lending a sense of identity.
Amidst the festive atmosphere, the Lacrosse Cranes engaged in a delightful exchange with their Jamaican counterparts, showcasing the vibrant cultural fusion through dance and music.

Uganda is in Group B for the tournament, alongside Japan, Wales, Denmark, and France, with the matches set to commence tonight.
The World Lacrosse Championship will be held in San Diego, USA, from June 21 to July 1. Leading the 23-man Ugandan team is Captain Keith Lubangakene.
