Oshoala explains Bay FC move from Barcelona
In an interview with Sportscenter on ESPN, Oshoala talked about her decision to join Bay FC.
She said, "It was amazing. It was good.
"I mean, I've been to meet people you've been talking on the phone with, in person.
"I mean, it was, it was really good.
"I mean, I would say like the, the fact that the team is just new in the league and I really love the project that Tim presented to me, you know, It's really just good to, to start from something different, to feel a different, thing in your career again."
On the biggest challenges coming from playing in Spain to playing here in the NWSL, She added, To be honest, I would say like,, the style of football is completely different.
"But of course, I'm a person who's actually moved, different places and,, and with my national team, I feel like,, it's something different as well.
"You know, it's not what you see every day.
"But to be honest, the coach actually wants to play a different style of football from what,, everyone knows the NWSL for.
"I think that was one of the things that actually caught my attention.
Describing her personal style and the way you play the game, she said, "I mean, I'm, I'm quite fast and I love to finish around the box and I try to put pressure on defenders and all of that, you know, I try to,, make sure my energy is 100% in every game and all that.
"So I feel like, this is, something the team, the team will actually need to.
"I like how you said that, like I'm quite fast. I like to put pressure on. y'all better be ready for me because I'm coming.
On trying to provide sports and educational opportunities for girls. She added, "What message do you hope to send by making this particular move?
"What I would say is sometimes you gotta leave your comfort zone if you want to create something different for yourself, if you want to build something different in your career as a person.
"And if you want to attend a different, I, you have to leave your comfort zone because if not, you get, sometimes we get overwhelmed, you know, we get so comfortable in the space that we just feel like, oh, I just wanna be here regardless of whatever I got you."
Oshoala on what is expected from her said, "Soccer fans, football fans here in the United States to know about you BFC is coming, wait for us, we're coming."
On basketball and the NBA, Oshoala added, "I'm a big, big, big fan of basketball.
"I mean, sometimes at Barcelona, my teammates or my media officer, they're always like, when do you even sleep?
"Like you come to training with big energy in the morning but you always watch the games in the NBA like it's literally at night.
"But I just, I, I'm, I'm a big fan of the NBA. I watch basketball and I love basketball a lot and I'm happy I'm going to, I'm, I'm going to the Bay area, California.
"I can see all these players in person. It's gonna be an amazing feeling as well."
