Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre departs Leicester City
Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender with Leicester City Women, has departed the organization after her contract at King Power Stadium expired.
After earning her Human Biology degree from the University of Southern California's USC Trojans, the 25-year-old Plumptre transferred to Leicester City in 2020.
Plumptre made a total of 23 appearances for City in all competitions in 2022–2023,
She was a vital member of City's two first seasons in the women's top flight after helping her team win the Barclays Women's Championship title in 2021.
Leicester City thanks Ashleigh Plumptre
A statement by Leicester City on her departure said, "LCFC Women would like to thank Ashleigh for her contribution during the last four seasons and wish her well in the next phase of her career."
Plumptre played a crucial role and celebrated as Leicester City avoided relegation last season.
After 79 appearances in City Blue, Plumptre departed Belvoir Drive.
Plumptre is now expected to help the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this month.
