During the course of the game, Iwobi and Bassey was asked about their remarkable strikes against Manchester United weeks ago in their remarkable comeback win in the league.

Bassey said in the interview, “I can’t lie, I didn’t even realize I scored still. I can’t lie it was a mad one,” before Iwobi also responded saying, “It was nice to be on the winning side against [Manchester] United because I don’t think I’ve beaten them. So, to get the winning goal was nice.”

The Nigerian duo were also asked about their bromance and how the pair first met, with Bassey revealing that he first came across Iwobi while on national team duty.
“For me it was a bit mad though. Growing up, my family obviously supported Arsenal, so we watched Alex [Iwobi] in his Arsenal days ,and then having the opportunity to go to Nigeria and then meeting him was wild.”

Bassey also emphasized that he liked Iwobi instantly when they met, citing his cool demeanor and willingness to help him adapt to the Super Eagles.
Iwobi in turn also returned the favour when asked what his first impression was about the former Ajax defender.

He said, “What you see is what you get with Calvin. When he’s comfortable, energy for days! I feel like he forgets who he is sometimes though. He’s such a big kid. It’s nice that he still has that childishness at heart.”

During the interview, both players were also asked to name their favourite Nigerian dish.
While Iwobi picked Abacha - which is an Igbo delicacy for native salad, Bassey said he is a “pounded yam type of guy”, choosing Egusi soup as his preferred pairing for the native swallow.

Additionally, Iwobi yet again named his famous uncle and Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha as his idol growing up, while Bassey cited Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as his idol, adding that he was inspired by the French World Cup winner during his younger playing days as a striker.

At the end of the encounter, Iwobi edged Bassey on penalties after both players grinded out a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes on EA FC 24.
