5 top track stars whose wedding bells are highly awaited in 2025

The year 2024 was awash with marriage proposals from track and field stars but who among them is likely to tie the knot in 2025?

The year 2024 was marked with an increased number of marriage proposals either from or to athletics stars, especially during and after the Paris Olympics.

A number of athletes got off the market after their partners asked for their hands in marriage and heading into 2025, the spotlight is on them to see if they will complete the journey with a wedding.

However, there are some whose proposals took place much earlier but fans are still waiting for the wedding bells.

So, who are top track stars whose wedding bells are highly awaited in 2025?

Noah Lyles & Junelle Bromfield

Only one place to start. Olympics 100m champion Noah Lyles and his fiancé Junelle Bromfield were no doubt the couple of the year in 2024.

From supporting each other in training, during competition and revealing some secrets about Team Jamaica, their relationship yielded so much more and Lyles affirmed his love and commitment to Bromfield when he proposed to her in October.

Following the proposal, Lyles bought a new house, which the couple have since moved in, and the conversation has shifted to when the wedding will take place.

The two have been teasing their fans, and even asked for ideas recently, but the supporters expect that “one big party,” as Lyles has termed it, to happen this year.

Over to you, Noah.

Mary Moraaa

World 800m champion Mary Moraa was the recipient of a surprise marriage proposal at the airport in September 2023 but up to the start of January 2025, there has been no news of a wedding.

Is this the year when the white smoke is finally seen? This is a question Moraa and her fiancé Richard Lagat can only answer but the former volleyball player-cum coach cannot escape the spotlight after his very public proposal.

Lagat proposed to Moraa at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, just after she returned home from the Diamond League finale in Eugene, with the Olympics 800m bronze medalist saying “yes” and now, the question is when the wedding will finally take place.

Is 2025 the year?

Athing Mu

Mary Moraa’s track rival Athing Mu had a year to forget on track but enjoyed life off it.

Just two months after missing the Olympics after an unfortunate fall in her 800m final at the US trials, the tears were turned into cheers as her partner proposed to her in September 2024.

The identity of Mu’s prince charming is yet to be known but fans of the 22-year-old are hoping to finally see his face this year in a marriage ceremony.

Will we really see it or is it another long wait?

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn

Puerto Rican hurdling queen Jasmine Camacho-Quinn received a sweet proposal from her American boyfriend Donald Scott in August 2024, two weeks after winning bronze at the Paris Olympics.

Scott, a triple jumper and a 2022 world indoor bronze medallist, went on his knee to ask for his woman’s hand in marriage and it acted as an inspiration somewhat as she went on to win the Diamond League title in Brussels in September.

Even more special, Scott proposed on August 21, the day the sprinter was born, so could we also see a wedding on August 21, 2025? That would be sweet, coming less than three weeks before the World Championships, where she will be looking for her first gold medal.

Bruno Martinez Bargiela & Alice Finot

For all proposals made in 2024, that involving Alice Finot and Bruno Martinez Bargiela was the most outstanding as it was the woman who went down on one knee and not the man, as is the norm.

Finot had made a vow to herself: Break the nine-minute barrier in the women's 3,000m steeplechase at the Olympics and propose to her boyfriend.

On August 6, the French runner did just that, finishing just shy of the podium after coming fourth behind Winfred Yavi, Peruth Chemutai and Faith Cherotich in a time of 8:58.67.

She headed over to the stands and asked her boyfriend Bruno Martinez Bargiela, a triathlete from Spain, to marry her, offering up a competition memento instead of a ring.

Can the couple now complete their journey in 2025? Bruno will have bigger say this time around
