Olago, who also coaches the national U20 side Chipu, has revealed why winning the Impala Floodlit title for the second year in a row is the least of his concerns.

KCB RFC head coach Curtis Olago has revealed a couple of areas they need to work on as they step up preparations for the Kenya Cup through the annual Impala Floodlit Pre-Season Tournament.

The Bankers brushed aside Kenya Harlequin 45-0 in the quarter-finals to set up a semi-final clash with Menengai Oilers on Saturday 21 October.

The Nairobi-based side won the title in 2022 and looks set to retain it this year if they carry on with their momentum, but Olago is using it as a platform to try and test new tactics while ensuring the side is as solid as possible ahead of the Kenya Cup season which starts in November.

“I am not thinking about the title, what I am saying is that we are in pre-season,” Olago said. “There are things we are looking to improve every week and going into the league,” he added.

“We have seen a few areas where we are still making mistakes and we are going to correct it. The game tempo is good, but we will still work on other things.

“We are still at preseason so there are still other guys that we will test next week. We are not looking at other teams, we are looking at what we can do better, and how we can do better. How we can improve. It is basically about us, not another team.”

Nondescripts will face off against Blak Blad, and KCB will take on Menengai Oilers in the second semifinal match.
