Kenya Harlequins struck a partnership with Chloride Exide, which will be a huge relief for the side, having gone through some financial constraints last season.

Kenya Harlequin RFC has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Chloride Exide, marking a new chapter for the club with a significant sponsorship agreement for the 2024/2025 rugby season.

The deal, valued at Ksh 1.5 million in cash plus additional in-kind support, represents a major milestone for both organizations.

Under this new collaboration, Chloride Exide will channel its support into Kenya Harlequin's youth development programs and player welfare initiatives, impacting the club’s men’s, women’s, and age-grade teams.

This strategic alliance aligns seamlessly with Chloride Exide's commitment to community development and sustainable energy solutions, and complements the Kenya Harlequin FC’s longstanding tradition of nurturing rugby talent.

During the sponsorship launch held at the RFUEA Grounds on Thursday morning, Chloride Exide General Manager Charles Ngare expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Kenya Harlequin FC. This partnership not only supports a cherished sport but also invests in the future of Kenyan rugby. It underscores our commitment to community development, a value that has been integral to us for over six decades,” Ngare stated.

Kenya Harlequin's Chairperson, Victor Sudi, conveyed his appreciation for Chloride Exide's generous contribution.

“We are profoundly grateful to Chloride Exide for their support. This sponsorship is a testament to their dedication to community development and the advancement of rugby in Kenya. We eagerly anticipate a successful season ahead, enriched by this partnership,” Sudi said.

Echoing Sudi's sentiments, Vice Chairman Felix Ochieng highlighted the significance of the sponsorship for the club’s events.

“The Christie 7s is a cornerstone of the rugby calendar, and having Chloride Exide as a sponsor will significantly enhance the prestige of this event.

“Their support is vital in delivering an exceptional tournament experience for both players and fans. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chloride Exide and look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will drive the growth and success of Kenya Harlequin FC,” Ochieng noted.

As part of their new season plans, Kenya Harlequin will host the first leg of the 2024 National 7s Circuit on July 27-28 at the RFUEA Grounds, setting the stage for an exciting and action-packed rugby season ahead.
