Kenya 7s endure torrid start in Vancouver as Argentina take full control.

Kenya’s national men’s 7s team, Shujaa, endured a rough start to their Vancouver 7s campaign, suffering a 24-0 defeat at the hands of a dominant Argentina on Saturday morning.

Marcos Moneta set the tone early, effortlessly slicing through Kenya’s defense to score a well-converted try, leaving Shujaa with an uphill task.

Argentina continued to dictate play, forcing Kenya into errors, and matters worsened when co-captain George Ooro was sent to the sin bin for an accidental knockdown.

From the resulting scrum, Argentina capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Moneta crossing the whitewash once again to extend their lead.

The South Americans' physical dominance proved too much for Kenya, and Moneta completed his hat-trick before halftime, bursting down the right wing after a well-worked move.

Although his last two tries went unconverted, Argentina still took a commanding 17-0 lead into the break.

Shujaa showed glimpses of attacking intent in the second half but failed to capitalise on their best opportunity near Argentina’s try line.

The South Americans quickly regained control, and Joaquin Pellandini added the fourth try after Kenya lost possession, racing down the left wing to put the result beyond doubt.

Kenya will now look to bounce back when they face France at 5:13 AM before taking on Great Britain at 10:58 AM.

With their tournament hopes hanging in the balance, Shujaa must quickly regroup and find a response to avoid an early exit.
