The Kenyan international is set to bolster the Black Shirts who have been struggling in recent seasons

Steve Sikuta has returned to Mwamba RFC ahead of the new season that starts with the Dala Sevens in Kisumu next month.

The player was part of the Mwamba squad that finished second in the 2019 National Sevens Circuit while making it to the Kenya Cup semi-final that season.

He ditched the Black Shirts for Kabras Sugar in 2021, linking up with his brother Dan Sikuta at the Kakamega-based side, who won the last two Kenya Cup titles.

He later joined the police but is now back to the club that nurtured him just in time for the Dala Sevens set to take place at the Kisumu ASK Showground on July 1.

“Black always looked good on you... Welcome back Sikuta aka Drone,” Mwamba said via a Twitter post.

The Kenyan international will bolster Mwamba’s squad at a time when they are trying to get back to their best after struggling in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Mwamba have appealed to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to help them regain their home ground in the wake of revelations that the Ksh250 million Green Park terminus is set to be flattened and the land "transformed into a world-class conference centre."

Mwamba lost their home ground when government repossessed the land, situated between Uhuru Park and Railways Golf Club to put up the Green Park terminus but it has now turned into another White Elephant after feasibility studies showed that it increases traffic rather than reduce it as initially thought.

“Hi governor Sakaja Johnson can we get our home back please?” the club appealed to the governor on Twitter, to which he responded: “I’ll check it out.”

“Thanks Sakaja Johnson for this. The home of Kenya's indigenous rugby. Great players have come through those grounds. Let's create a home for the next generation.”

Mwamba will be hoping for a favourable draw for the Dala tournament where they have won three titles, same as Homeboyz, only bettered by KCB, who have four.
