“They gave it all. Not entirely what they aimed at @Paris2024 but finishing strong counts for much. Proud of our boys and tomorrow is brighter for @KenyaSevens. Much love overflowing from Stade de France. @OlympicsKe, @iocmedia, @SafaricomPLC, @TuskerLager,” Tergat shared on his X handle.

Meanwhile, going into the global bonanza, Shujaa had been pooled alongside Argentina, Samoa and Australia. In their first match, the lost to Argentina 31 – 12 before losing to Australia 21 – 7.

They also faltered in their third match, going up against Samoa where they were beaten 26-0. The match was a decider and the thrashing meant that Shujaa would be knocked out of the title contenders and play for ninth-place.

They then played in the semifinal against Uruguay, where Shujaa put up a good fight to claim the win. They beat the South American nation 19-14 before revenging against Samoa in the final match, claiming the top prize, winning 10-5. Shujaa now shift focus to the World Rugby Sevens Series that begins in a few months.
