Kenya Lionesses can secure qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympics if they beat South Africa in the cup final at Africa Sevens on Sunday
Kenya Lionesses will face South Africa in the cup final of the Africa Sevens with the winner of the match set to secure a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Lionesses secure their place in the final courtesy of a 27-0 win over Uganda in the semi-final in Tunis, Tunisia on Sunday, continuing their flawless run that started at the group stages on Saturday.
Janet Okello extended her good scoring run when she opened the scoring for Kenya against the Uganda Lady Cranes in the first minute before adding the second shortly after.
She completed her hat-trick just before halftime, which was converted, for a 17-0 lead for Kenya at the break.
Naomi Amuguni then went over the line for Kenya’s fourth try, extending their lead to 22-0, before Sharon Auma added the fifth to give Kenya the 27-0 victory.
The win set up a mouth-watering final with South Africa who beat Zambia in the other semi-final.
Kenya have had a brilliant campaign so far after beating Zambia 27-0, Ghana 41-0 and Madagascar 20-17 on Saturday before putting the Ugandans to the sword.
Just like their male counterparts, who beat South Africa in Zambia last month to qualify for the Olympics, the Lionesses are hoping for a similar outcome to secure their ticket to Paris, in what will be a second straight Olympics appearance.
