During the tournament, the junior side is expected to come up against formidable opponents.
Former Kenya Kenya U20 coach Paul Odera has called for stronger opponents for the U20 side ahead of the World U20 Trophy tournament.
For Odera, strong opportunities will help the junior prepare well for the global event set for next month.
"I think our U20s need to be prepared for a tough tournament, and it will be wise for them to get two or three tough matches against opposition that is stronger or close to teams they are set to play in July," Odera, a former Kenya Simba's coach, told the Kenya Rugby Union website.
In emphasizing the importance of such games, Odera, who led the Kenyan U20 team to the 2019 World Junior Trophy, recalled how at one time they found it difficult against Brazil.
"The Junior World Trophy is a tough tournament. When I was coaching the U20 side in 2019, we went to Brazil, and it was a baptism of fire. You find teams that have semi-pro players, players who are in academies, and professional teams," the former Chippu coach added.
"You find teams with polished players and well-established unions such as Scotland, who are coming, and the United States as well."
The World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament, which will see 16 matches played for 15 days, has been scheduled to start on July 15 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Kenya will open their tournanent assignments with a match against Samoa.
