Kenya Simbas will be hoping to claim both titles as the Victoria and Elgon Cup makes a comeback after a four-year hiatus

Kenya Simbas are set to embark on twin assignments as the Victoria Cup and Elgon Cup take centre stage next month.

The Victoria Cup returns for the first time since 2019 when it was last held with Zimbabwe emerging victorious after securing 23 points from six matches with their only loss coming against Kenya.

Simbas were second with 21 points, having lost away to Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Kenya will therefore be seeking to return to their glory days in the tournament which has them, Zambia and Uganda although there are plans to include Zimbabwe as well as the senior women and men’s U20 competitions.

Their journey kicks off with a match against Zambia in Kampala on November 1, followed by a clash against Uganda in Kampala on November 5, which also serves as the initial leg of the Elgon Cup.

The Simbas will later engage in the Elgon Cup return match against Uganda on November 11, hosted in Kisumu City.

In addition, there are plans in motion for a thrilling encounter between the women’s national teams of Kenya and Uganda in Kisumu on the same day.

Like the Victoria Cup, the Elgon Cup has also not been played since 2019, adding an extra layer of competition for Kenya.

Kenya last won the Victoria Cup in its inaugural year in 2010 when they beat Zimbabwe in the final before the Sables edged them to claim victory in the subsequent two editions.

In the Elgon Cup, Kenya are the undisputed kings after winning 11 of the 13 editions played since the first tournament in 2004.
