Lionesses will face Czechia in the semi-finals of the ongoing Olympic Repecharge tournament taking place in Monaco at 3.46 PM

The Kenya 7s women's team, the Lionesses, moved a step closer to securing a coveted slot at the Paris Olympics following a nail-biting 15-12 victory against Argentina in the third quarterfinal match on Sunday in Monaco.

Facing Argentina for the second time in this tournament, the Lionesses had previously edged out their South American opponents with a close 19-17 win in their final pool match.

With their sights firmly set on the semifinals and a chance to book their tickets to Paris, the Kenyan team entered the field determined and focused.

The tension was palpable from the opening whistle. Early in the match, Argentina's Sofia Gonzalez received a yellow card for a neck tackle on Sinaida Nyachio, temporarily reducing her team to six players and giving the Lionesses a critical advantage.

Wasting no time, Grace Okulu broke through Argentina's defenses to score the first try for Kenya. Although the conversion missed its mark, the Lionesses took an early lead, igniting their supporters' hopes.

As the first half progressed, Stella Wafula expertly exploited a defensive gap, sprinting clear to secure the Lionesses' second try just before the break, putting them in a strong position.

The second half saw the Dennis Mwanja-coached side continuing their relentless pursuit of victory.

Veteran player Janet Okello added another try to the scoreboard, showcasing her experience and composure under pressure.

Argentina fought back valiantly with two tries from Mayra Genghini and Medini, but their efforts fell short as the Lionesses' defense held firm, ensuring a thrilling 15-12 triumph.

With this victory, the Lionesses advanced to the semifinals where they are set to face Czechia at 3:46 pm (EAT). Caution will be paramount, as Czechia demonstrated their prowess with a dominant 22-0 win over Uganda to reach this stage.

As the Lionesses prepare for their crucial semifinal clash, the dream of competing in Paris draws tantalizingly close.

With their unyielding spirit and skill, they are on the brink of making history and securing their place among the world's elite at the Olympics.
