The Lionesses started their campaign well a 60-0 thrashing of Mauritius in their opening fixture in Accra, Ghana.

The Kenya Lionesses launched their 2024 Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens campaign in emphatic fashion, overpowering Mauritius with a commanding 60-0 victory in their opening match.

This year’s tournament holds particular weight, as it doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 Challenger Series, a critical pathway for teams aiming to make their mark in the World Rugby international circuit.

After a difficult 2023 season, the Lionesses came into this year’s tournament eager to prove their mettle.

In 2023, they reached the final stage in Monastir, Tunisia, but narrowly missed a direct Olympics qualification, falling to South Africa 12-7 in a closely contested game.

That setback has fueled their determination as they seek redemption in Accra.

In Pool B, the Lionesses are pooled with long time rivals Madagascar, Ghana, and Mauritius.

With their dominant start against Mauritius, they are well-positioned to advance confidently through the group stage unless results later in the day go against them.

Their upcoming fixtures on Day 1 include a clash with host nation Ghana, followed by a showdown with Madagascar.
