Here is a recap of Matchday Two of the 2023/2024 Kenya Cup Season

Match Day Two of the Kenya Cup season commenced on Saturday afternoon with no real surprises springing up, as Kabras Sugar, Kenya Harlequin, Menengai Oilers, and KCB continue where they left off from their opening fixtures last weekend.

Newly-promoted Nondies’ misery against KCB in the opening round did not end as they were torn apart by Kabras Sugar, while Strathmore edged out Kenyatta in a tightly contested all-varsity encounter.

Here is how the action paned out across the country:

Menengai Oilers 67-0 Mwamba

The Oilers picked up from where they left off last weekend as they ran rampant against hapless Mwamba RFC. Oilers asserted their dominance, particularly through their industrious forward pack led by captain Ibrahim Ayoo.

Oilers brushed aside sorry Mwamba 67-0 on Matchday Two of the Kenya Cup season held at the Impala Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

John Okoth, Samwel Were and Alvin Khavoli each scored a brace of tries while Beldad Ogeta completed a 10-point hat-trick, with Johnstone Mung’au and Ibrahim Ayoo getting the other two tries as Mwamba were completely outclassed and obliterated by the Nakuru-based side.

They have now moved to 10 points on the standings after an impressive start.

Kabras Sugar 40-0 Nondies

The reigning Kenya Cup champions, led by head coach Carlos Katywa, continued their winning streak with a resounding 40-0 triumph over Nondies at the Impala Club in the second match of the 2023/24 season.

George Nyambua got the opening try for Kabras Sugar which was well converted, before Lamec Ambetsa made it two after dazzling down the flanks.

Nyambua then got his second try of the game off a scrum inside the five-yard zone which was well converted to put them in the groove heading into the break.

Nyambua landed another well-converted try right after the break before Shujaa’s Brian Tanga turned provider for their fourth and fifth tries by Indeche and Griffin Chao, who netted his maiden Kenya Cup try to give them all the points.

Kabras now joins Oilers as one of the teams with a perfect record, having secured maximum points from the opening two matches of the season.

Catholic Monks 19-79 KCB

KCB RFC secured their second win of the season after running over Catholic Monks at Catholic University Grounds, making it the biggest win recorded so far this season.

Other results
