Nondies have been given a rude return to the Kenya Cup since winning promotion back from the Championship with back-to-back defeats against KCB and Kabras Sugar.

Kabras Sugar RFC head coach Carlos Katywa has expressed sympathy for Nondies after his charges brushed them aside 40-0 in a Kenya Cup encounter played at the Impala Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Nondies have been given a rude return to the Kenya Cup with back-to-back defeats against KCB and Kabras Sugar, to add salt to their already large wound of a huge injury crisis.

“It was a battle of mixed emotions when it comes to this particular game,” Katywa said. “We started like a house on fire, we executed well, we went through our processes very well,” he added.

“Also we came knowing that Nondies lost to KCB and they must have been hurting in terms of injury list. They had two heavy games and I feel very sorry for them.”

Katywa has however berated his charges for being complacent after 20 minutes, which forced them into making “silly mistakes”

George Nyambua got the opening try for Kabras Sugar which was well converted, before Lameck Ambetsa made it two after dazzling down the flanks.

Nyambua then got his second try of the game off a scrum inside the five-yard zone which was well converted to put them in the groove heading into the break.

Nyambua landed another well-converted try right after the break before Shujaa’s Brian Tanga turned provider for their fourth and fifth tries by Indeche and Griffin Chao, who netted his maiden Kenya Cup try to give them all the points.

“We became complacent after 20 minutes and then we started doing silly mistakes and plays and we were not executing well.

“Handling errors is a concern when it comes to this particular game and there was a time where you look into the game and you don’t understand why it is that we do some things that we do but at the end of the day, it is five points away from home.”

Kabras now joins Oilers, Harlequin and KCB  as one of the teams with a perfect record, having secured maximum points from the opening two matches of the season.
