Pirates inspirational captain Ivan Magomu, one of the players that played an instrumental role as his side earned the league stripes, says the dominance is warranted because it's their time now.

The Stanbic Black Pirates are the Nile Special Rugby Premiership champions for a second time in the club's history, and rightly so, after their 23-07 win over Kobs on Saturday at Legends Rugby grounds.

Pirates inspirational captain Ivan Magomu, one of the players that played an instrumental role as his side earned the league stripes, says the dominance is warranted because it's their time now.

"I am happy for the win, this is our time,” Magomu told Pulse Sports before adding.

“I believe we are going to dominate for some good period because this is a young team with boys who have come through the ranks, and It's a brotherhood," Magomu added.

The flyhalf has also racked up over 150 points with his boot having been the only kicker for Pirates in most of the games, something Magomu put down to consistent.

"We agreed that there would be one kicker in the season even though I missed; as a team, we agreed to stick to one person kicking.

“And due to the consistency, it has paid off," Magomu noted before expounding on how the league title came home.

"Defensively, we were very disciplined; Kobs have big boys who defend short, so we had to get the ball there and milk penalties out of them, and when we had to strike on a counter, we punished them."

As the Stanbic Black Pirates celebrate their success, the focus will now shift to preparing for the national sevens which is the next activity on the Union calendar.
