The former Shujaa captain was pleased with his side's victorious pursuit of the Dala 7s title but believes there is more to be done.

KCB Sevens coach Andrew Amonde has revealed his delight at winning their fifth Dala 7s title but admitted to a selection headache owing to the massive squad depth.

Tries by Kenya internationals Edmund Anya, Vincent Onyala, and Jacob Ojee were enough to see the side secure a 17-5  victory over Kabras Sugar to set their 2023 campaign off to a flier.

Speaking in the aftermath of the side’s victory, the former Shujaa captain said he would do everything in his power to push his boys into “performing even better”

“I congratulate my boys and we are taking it a leg at a time and believe we can build on this win to strengthen our team and confidence in the team,” Amonde said.

“It is a good feeling and I intend to continue pushing the boys to perform even better. The team is ready to compete against some of the biggest sides in the country.

“We have squad depth that is unmatched which has given us a difficult time in picking the 13 players who will be representing KCB,” said Amonde.

The Bankers will be looking to build on from their positive start in Mombasa this weekend for the Driftwood 7s.

It will set the tone for an assault on the title and continue their tradition of perfect starts at the National Sevens Circuit, following last year’s triumph at the opening leg, Kabeberi 7s.

Amonde has all the tools needed to succeed at the helm, being assisted by a star-studded technical bench that includes the national women’s 15s head coach Dennis Ironman Mwanja, Mike Shamiah, Philip Wamae, Brian Omondi, and Mariko Mshilla.
