Kenya Lionesses’ captain Sheila Chajira has revealed the lofty ambitions the team has after qualifying for the Challenger Series.
This comes as a redemption chance for them and they are off to a good start. If they maintain their momentum, they might qualify for the prestigious HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
After their win over Uganda, Chajira explained that qualifying for the Challenger Series is a morale booster and promised to fight hard and get to the final. She added that Uganda is a tough opponent and getting a win over them is a sign that they are on the right track.

Kenya Lionesses secure place in the Challenger Series despite falling short in Africa Rugby 7s final to South Africa
The Kenya Lionesses earned a place in the Challenger Series by finishing second in the Women's Africa Rugby Sevens in Accra, Ghana.
“Uganda are always our best opponent because we are just neighbours and we are always looking forward to playing against Uganda because it’s not an easy game and you always fight for what you get and we are always looking forward to playing them,” Chajira said.
“We have another opportunity to play and redeem ourselves because last year we were not able to qualify for the series but this time our heads are in a different place and we are looking forward to reaching the finals and qualifying for the HSBC,” she added.
Meanwhile, Kenya Lionesses were off to a great start in the Africa Cup as they beat hosts Ghana 48-0. Team Kenya proceeded to thrash Team Uganda 19-0 before falling short against South Africa as they lost 19-10.
