The 2023/2024 Kenya Cup opener has been postponed just four days to kickoff.

Rugby enthusiasts will have to wait longer for the 15s season kickoff after the 2023/2024 Kenya Cup opener was postponed by a week.

The season was set to commence this weekend on Saturday 25 November but owing to “ongoing consultation and adjustments to the seasonal calendar”, it has now been rescheduled to start a week later on Saturday, December 2.

“As a result of ongoing consultation and adjustments to the seasonal calendar, the commencement of the Kenya Rugby Union 2023/24 league season has been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023,” a statement on the Kenya Cup’s X (formerly Twitter) handle read.

This year’s competition sees the return of the top six playoffs where the teams ranked positions three through to six at the close of the regular season battle for semifinal qualification.

The teams ranked first and second at the close of the regular season will earn direct home semifinal berths.

The bottom two teams will be relegated at the close of the regular season.

Kabras Sugar will be facing Kisumu in their first match of the weekend in Kakamega while Mwamba face Black Blud.

Homeboyz will be facing Menengai Oilers as Enterprise Cup and Kenya Cup runners up KCB begin their quest to retain the title against newly promoted Nondies.

Strathmore Leos will face Nakuru while Catholic Monks face Kenya Harlequins.
