Transgender athletes face increased restrictions ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games compared to previous editions.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will implement stricter rules for transgender athletes compared to the previous editions of the Olympic Games.
It was recently decided that they must have completed their transition before the age of 12 to avoid unfair advantages and they now face greater obstacles as they gear up to qualify for the global showpiece scheduled for July 26 to 11 August.

Hubbard and other transgender athletes who had previously participated in the Olympic Games will not be eligible for the Paris 2024 Games. Restrictions have become stricter since the last Olympics, with little to no room for interpretation.
In previous circumstances, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had published guidelines that allowed any transgender athlete to compete as a woman as long as their testosterone levels were below 10 nanomoles per litre for at least 12 months before their first competition.
However, the current requirements have been changed to avoid disadvantaging cisgender women. Their move comes after the World Athletics Council banned those who passed puberty before transitioning from high-level female competition.
