Team Kenya will be ready to stun their opponents as they gear up for the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024 qualifiers.

The women's national hockey team head coach Meshack Senge has fired warning shots at their opponents ahead of the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024 (Men/Women) qualifiers taking place from October 29 to November 5 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Senge noted that the team has prepared well for the event and they are ready for the challenge. He explained that the only thing remaining is the international exposure and they have matches lined up for them ahead of the stern test.

“We fazed our approach to the tournament and we are in the penultimate stage…we have done everything that we should have done.

The last two bits are now the international exposure and the mental preparation for the same. The international exposure will come as we gear up for our first build-up match in Pretoria and another set of four or so matches.

In between we shall do more mental preparations to convince ourselves that we are ready and good to go and we shall conquer this small little challenge that is before us. We are ready,” he explained.

In the women’s category, Team Kenya has been grouped in pool B and they will be up against Ghana, Namibia, and Zambia.

The veteran coach added that they do conditioning and they do it with benchmarks and they have hit their targets.

“We have engaged in local matches, playing against the male sides. We chose the opposite gender because we want to test our physicality and speed and we have been able to match that.

We’ve been able to express ourselves diligently on the pitch and we have pulled results against the male sides,” he said.

He added that technical and tactical preparations are where he wanted the players to be but added that they will work on it more.
