Tennis Kenya Secretary General Wanjiru Mbugua has announced that the federation is ready to host the Billie Jean King Cup Group III tournament scheduled for Monday, June 12 to Saturday, June 17.

The event is scheduled for Monday, June 12 to Saturday, June 17 at the Nairobi Club.
The countries include the hosts, Nigeria, Botswana, Burundi, Ghana, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and Morocco.
“The event will be held at the Nairobi Club and the matches will be played everyday from 10:00am. There will be two pools of six teams each and the round-robin format will be played from Monday to Friday. Each tie will consist of two singles and one doubles,” Mbugua said.
The playoffs will be held on Saturday where there will be a winning playoff where the winner will be promoted.
There will also be the provisional playoffs where the last two teams will play and the loser will be relegated to Africa Group IV.
Meanwhile, Tennis Kenya president James Kenani urged the masses to show up in large numbers and support the event.

The 19-year-old will be up against some of the greatest athletes from 11 other countries that have confirmed participation.
“I am proud to say Kenya has been doing well in the sport. However, there are days we wished to participate in some events but lack of funds set us back. However, I am glad we were allowed to host this edition,” he said, adding that hosting the event places the players at an added advantage.
