Kenya's tennis sensation Angella Okutoyi has secured a dominant victory over Italy’s Virginia Ferrara at the ongoing  Women's International Tennis Federation (ITF) Tunisia 31A.

Okutoyi secured a narrow 7-5 win in the first set against her formidable opponent but then came firing from all cylinders in the second set to win 6-3 in the Round of 16 match.

The 19-year-old opened her campaign on Tuesday in the Round of 32 match and was up against Russia’s Vlada Mincheva. She won the thrilling encounter 2-1 in sets of 1-6, 6-4 and 6-3. The win saw her proceed to the Round of 16 where she has also stamped her authority as a tennis ace.

With her dominant win, she now proceeds to the quarter-final where she is set to lock horns with another Italian, Cristina Elena Tiglea.

Okutoyi is the only Kenyan in the event after Alicia Owegi was knocked out in the preliminaries after losing 0-2 to Maria Eleni Poulka of Greece.

The youngster is just fresh from winning the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour W15 Monastir doubles title with her partner Beverley Nyangom of France.

The dynamic duo stunned the talented pair of Gaia Parravicini and Samira De Stefano from Italy to secure a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 dominant victory.

She now heads to the quarterfinal psyched up and ready to maintain the hot streak and cement her place as a tennis great.
