The NPS is home to many athletes including Mary Moraa, Ferdinand Omanyala, Beatrice Chepkoech, and Beatrice Chebet among many other sports people in the country.

The National Police Service, in their newsletter issue seven of April to June, have lauded the efforts of sportsmen and women affiliated with them for representing the entity well and placing them on the world map.

The NPS is home to many athletes including Mary Moraa, Ferdinand Omanyala, Beatrice Chepkoech, and Beatrice Chebet among many other sports people in the country. They also cushion the Kenya Police FC, a Football Kenya Federation Premier League side that finished third in the 2022/23 league season.

So far in 2023, NPS has been able to register victories, especially in the athletics font and football font, and in their newsletter, they have been able to appreciate everyone who made their dreams come true.

They hosted the successful athletics championships back in early June and in the newsletter, they have extended a hand of gratitude to all the regions for showing up and making the event a success.

Moraa was singled-out for exemplary performances among other athletes who graced the occasion. “All eyes were on the current National record holder for the 400m race Mary Moraa of the Rapid Deployment Unit under the Administration Police Unit, as she put in a thrilling performance claiming first spot in the same race with Brian Tinega of GSU clinching victory in the men category ahead of William Rayian (Nairobi) who came in second place,” the statement in the newsletter read in part.

The newsletter also appreciated Omanyala for his exemplary performance since the season started. It also lauded the athletes who had made it to the national team for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and wished them luck as they gear up for the global showpiece.

“Athletes from the National Police Service have for long been true ambassadors in representing our country in multiple continental and global events.

They have risen to the occasion by exhibiting skill, discipline, determination, and tactical prowess as they grace various tracks across the globe.

In April, during the World Athletics Continental Tour 2023 at the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix, Corporal Omanyala stormed to victory clocking 9.78 in 100m and Moraa cruised to victory in the 400m race clocking 50.44.

With more events scheduled in the remaining half of the year, it is no doubt another platform for our athletes to foster national pride in our country,” another part of the newsletter read.

NPS also lauded Kenya Police FC for their spirited fight that saw them earn a spot in the podium finish.

They also congratulated the players who had received a call-up to the Harambee Stars squad for the friendly match in Mauritius. The players included Charles Ouma, David Ochieng, Abud Omar, and Alvin Mangeni.

“In a season that has witnessed highs and lows for football enthusiasts across the country, Kenya Police FC did not disappoint posted very impressive results propelling them to position three in the course amassing 64 points.

Indeed, this was an impressive improvement from the 2021/2022 season when the team was in position ten having accumulated only 44 points.

The gradual rise of Police FC can be attributed to consistency, dedication, and commitment from all the actors involved in the management of the team toward better results,” another part of the newsletter read.
