Ababu disclosed that the Ministry had spent Ksh150 million to send the team of youngsters to Trinidad and Tobago and they ought to work smart and place Kenya on the world map.

The team consists of 36 athletes from seven different disciplines and they will be in for a huge assignment starting Friday 4 to 11 August.
Speaking during the flagging off of the team on Monday 31 July, Namwamba said: “Government is spending Ksh 150 million to send you to Trinidad and Tobago.
"The money is not loose change…it is serious money. It is an investment we are making confident that it’s worth every penny. We want you to go and compete very well.”
Meanwhile, the Youth Affairs and Arts Principal Secretary Ismail Maalim also reiterated that the youngsters should ensure they shine.
He added that he is aware of the time and energy they have dedicated to their training and that should be displayed as they compete.
“You have given a lot of your training hours into this, a lot of energy, dedication, and commitment. Now the time has come for you to go out to the field and shine,” he said.
