The curtains closed on the 2024 Patron’s Cup, a spectacular three day event at Muthaiga Golf Club that saw 15 teams from across Kenya battle it out in one of the country’s most prestigious interclub golf tournaments.
The tournament began with a thrilling highlight as Ebil Omollo from Vetlab Sports Club achieved a stunning hole-in-one on the very first day. Omollo's incredible shot earned him an excavator, valued at Ksh 16 million, sponsored by Pan African Equipment Group, making him one of the event’s standout stars.
Emerging victorious in the highly contested Trophy Pool was Muthaiga Golf Club, who leveraged their home-course advantage and the expertise of their professional to secure the top honors. They were closely followed by Nyali Golf & Country Club, who put up a formidable fight until the final round.
In the Shield Pool, Railways Golf Club claimed the title, showcasing strategic brilliance throughout the tournament. Kiambu Golf Club triumphed in the Plaque Pool, while Thika Sports Club emerged victorious in the Bowl Pool.
The newly introduced Mug Pool saw Eldoret Club take the crown in a thrilling conclusion to their matches. As the dust settles, several teams will be making moves in the next edition of the tournament. Vetlab Sports Club has been relegated to the Shield Pool, while Railways Golf Club is promoted to the Trophy Pool.

Limuru Country Club advances from the Plaque to the Shield Pool, and Kiambu Golf Club is also promoted to the Shield Pool from Plaque. Royal Nairobi Golf Club is relegated to the Bowl Pool, while Thika Sports Club moves up to the Plaque Pool.
Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club is relegated from the Bowl to the Mug Pool, and Ruiru Sports Club has been relegated from the tournament. Dr. Wycliffe Kaisha, Tournament Director of the Patron’s Cup, expressed his pride in the level of competition displayed:
“The 2024 Patron’s Cup exceeded all expectations, with each team demonstrating remarkable talent and sportsmanship.” The event, which honors the late Hon. Mwai Kibaki, a pivotal figure in Kenyan golf, has grown in both scale and prestige since its inception in 2022.
This year’s edition was bolstered by the inclusion of professional players in each team, adding a new level of competitiveness to the tournament.
