The Kenyan national Lacrosse has expressed interest in being included in Team Kenya for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

In a post on their Twitter account, the Lacrosse team disclosed that they had a meeting with the National Olympic Committee of Kenya officials including Secretary General Francis Mutuku.

The tweet read: “Today we had the pleasure of meeting with Olympics Kenya as we laid out our road map in hopes of Olympic inclusion for Lacrosse in LA 2028.

Thank you @OlympicsKe for sharing valuable info that will make Kenya Lacrosse a more proficient & productive National Governing Body.

At the moment, the Women’s Sixes National Team is working hard to prepare for the Lacrosse Canada Super Sixes tourney starting Friday, October 7 at Civic Stadium Field in Oshawa, Ontario.

Currently, the national Lacrosse teams were formed in 2007 by Storm Trentham who introduced lacrosse to Kenya in collaboration with Sporting Change International and DBA Sports.

Meanwhile, Lacrosse is a team game in which a ball is passed between teammates using a stick with a mesh or net at one end.

The lacrosse stick (or “crosse”) can be used to catch, carry and pass the ball with the intention of stopping your opponents from gaining possession. When the opposing side has the ball, the defending team can attempt to dispossess them using their sticks (against opponents’ sticks) or bodies.

Each team consists of 10 players, one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three attackers. The lacrosse sticks are split between “short” and “long” sticks.

To score a goal in Lacrosse, a team must propel the ball from their lacrosse stick into the goal such that it fully crosses the goal line.
