Kenyan men will be up against hosts South Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Egypt, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe while their women's counterparts battle it out with the hosts, Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
“We are going to perfect on the execution of our short corners and also the short corner defence which is very key if we have to do well,” the men’s national team captain, Constant Wakhura, told KBC Sport.
Meanwhile, the women's national team captain Tracy Wasike noted that having a relatively youthful side is an added advantage to the team and they will be banking on the young squad to deliver.
“We have an advantage since we have a mix of very youthful players who are the majority and some of the experienced players who will be returning,” she said.
Team Kenya will return to South Africa with the hope of making a statement since they failed to deliver in 2019, at the same venue. The winners of the event will automatically book slots to next year’s Olympic Games.
