Reigning Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar on Sunday secured a hard-fought 10-5 victory over Kenya Harlequins during the Prinsloo Sevens which was staged at the Nakuru Athletic Club.
The Sugar Millers' 15's head coach Carlos Katywa termed the win as bittersweet owing to the hard work and effort that the team invested in training as they prepared for the challenge.

The Kabras flyhalf has already made history by representing his adopted country with Kenya Simbas but he still has ambitions of donning the Kenya Sevens jersey.
Katywa noted that he was aware of the tough test that awaited the team and therefore they had to put in extra effort to achieve their goal.
“This has been one of the sweetest victories we have had. It takes us back to how we have worked hard to get here. The boys have really invested their time and energy in training…it’s a bittersweet victory,” he told Nation Sport.
The Sugar Millers opened their campaign at the Dala Sevens where they were beaten 17-5 by KCB in the final.
They then intensified their preparations ahead of the Driftwood Sevens and managed a narrow 10-7 win over Menengai Oilers. The Prinsloo Sevens win marks their second victory since the National Sevens Circuit began.

On his part, team captain Paul Abuto also attested that it was not easy preparing for the event since as a team, they were aware of the tough opposition that awaited them.
“It wasn’t easy preparing for this tournament for the last three weeks. We knew all the teams would come for us so we dug deeper and managed the win,” he said.
