Cricket Kenya women's team to clash with Botswana in T20 World Cup Africa Division Two Qualifier

After the dominant victory, Team Kenya will brace to face Botswana in the final on Friday afternoon at the Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1.

The National Women’s Cricket team on Wednesday, September 6, floored Cameroon by 118 runs to successfully sail to the final at the ongoing International Cricket Council 2023 Women T20 World Cup Africa Division Two Qualifier in Gaborone, Botswana.

After the dominant victory, Team Kenya will brace to face Botswana in the final on Friday afternoon at the Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1. On their part, Cameroon will be up against Sierra Leone in the 3rd/4th playoffs in the morning in the same venue.

However, both teams (Kenya and Botswana) have effectively qualified for the ICC 2023 Women T20 World Cup Africa Division One Qualifier set for December 7 and 8 in Entebbe, Uganda.

As reported by Cricket Kenya, the women’s team had started the match in an unpleasant way but Esther Wachira drove them back to winning ways that also yielded her maiden T20I half-century off 45 balls in a 71–run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside Venasa Adhiambo (32.)

Wachira then added a further 49 runs to the fifth wicket in the company of Melvin Khagoitsa, who finished unbeaten on 28 runs off 20 balls, in the company of her sister, Lavendah Alivitsa, for the last five balls of the innings.

On her part, Daisy Wairimu succumbed inside the ring to be the first to depart at the close of the third over for seven.

Three balls later, Aboui Mbida had Queentor Abel (15) trapped in front before upending Mary Mwangi’s stumps to bag two wickets in the fourth over.

Wachira was eventually dismissed with five balls to go by Olive Pienape who bowled her sole over of the innings to have the captain caught by Bernadette Aboui at cover for 51. off 46 balls.
