Despite elimination from the team event at the ongoing Africa Badminton Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa, Team Uganda are not bogged down one bit.
Uganda lost 3-1 to Egypt in all but the mixed doubles category. However, team captain Amos Muyanja says even though the team event exit is a bitter pill to swallow, the individual events are coming up, and they must fight to win.
"The loss to Egypt was tough, especially because we had a good start, but I believe everyone did their best. We equally wanted it as much as the fans did, but we have more work to do," he noted before adding.
"We are now looking forward to the individual events. Everyone on the team is targeting atleast two medals. The mental strength they exhibited against Egypt shows they can deliver individually.
Uganda will be counting on top seed Brian Kasirye and top female players in Husina Kobugabe and Fadilah Shamika Mohammed Rafi to deliver the goods.
Uganda is searching for her first gold medal in the competition, having previously won one silver and eight bronze.
