The South African has noted how Kenyan athletes bring pride to Africa and African footballers should also embrace the same.
The Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe has lauded the Kenyan athletes for flying the country’s flag high and ensuring Africa has a place on the world map.
Speaking during a press conference upon his visit to Nairobi, Kenya, Motsepe noted that when the athletes do well on the global stage, they not only make Kenya proud but also the whole of Africa.
He also envisioned that soon, he would love to see football rise to the standards of athletics and put Africa on the world map. Motsepe explained that he has a lot of trust in what President William Ruto will do to change the current state of football in the country.

“Look at the Kenyan athletes, when they win, they don’t just make Kenya proud, they make all Africans proud, from Cape Town to Cairo, from Dakar to Nairobi. It’s a moment of pride and we want the same in football. As I leave, what is my impression, an impression of confidence because I trust President Ruto,” Motsepe said.
He expressed confidence about Kenya being one of the greatest football nations in the world. He was proud to have witnessed how Côte d'Ivoire is passionate about raising the standards of football.
“Kenya deserves to be one of the greatest football nations in the continent. When we were in Côte d'Ivoire, young women, and they were not so young, and young boys were in the streets, jumping and dancing and singing because Côte d'Ivoire were playing and they had been winning,” Motsepe said.
“You feel so proud and emotional. As president of CAF, I want all nations to win, I might not have one nation above others but Kenya should be winning,” he added.
