Kenyan tennis sensation Angela Okutoyi has maintained the hot streak in her second singles game to stun Botswana’s Chelsea Chakanyuka 2-0 at the ongoing Billy Jean King Cup Africa Group III tournament at the Nairobi Club.

Okutoyi put up a good fight to win the first set 6-1 before destroying Chakanyuka in the second set where she won 6-2.

This marks her second singles win after she stunned Morocco’s El Allami Malak in her opening singles match on Monday, June 12. The 18-year-old displayed her class to take the first set in a narrow win of 7-5.

She came back for the second set upbeat and she managed to take top honours in 6-3. In the doubles played on Monday, Okutoyi and Cynthia Cheruto pulled off a jaw-dropping upset to take the win.

They were up against the Moroccan pair of Aya El Aouni and Yasmine Kabbaj, who were pre-race favourites but failed to live up to the billing.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Alicia Owegi came from behind to beat Botswana's Cheludo Monnayoo 4-6, 6-4, and, 6-2. The win is a morale booster after losing her opening singles match on Monday against Morocco's Aya El Aouni. She lost 2-0 in sets of 6-3 and 6-0.
