Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has promised that celebration of sports and creative legends will be made an annual event where the efforts of those who made an impact back in the day will be given the recognition they deserve.
Speaking during the 70th anniversary of the Safari Rally celebrations, Namwamba noted that the ministry is committed to honour every individual who has made significant contributions to the sports and creative space.

The committee has been revoked following a ruling by the High Court that found flaws in the creation of the committee.
This year’s event was held in honour of the legends who have made invaluable contributions to the field of Motor Sports and Safari Rallies in Kenya.
“These legends have paved the way for progress, shattered barriers, and inspired generations in their various fields. Legends are not born…they are created through various unwavering dedication and courage to pursue their dreams.
Throughout history, legends have emerged from all walks of life. Be it artists, media personalities, sportsmen, and women, we are proud of these icons, such as the great Leonard Mambo Mbotela here. Their stories remind us that true greatness knows no boundaries," he said.

Also in attendance during the event were Kenya Motorsports Federation president Phineas Kimathi and the 2023 WRC Safari rally Local Organising chair Carl Tundo.
