Rufus Giwa Polytechnic assures the success of the Polytechnics Games.
No less than 40 polytechnics will participate in the 2023 Edition of the Nigerian Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO), Owo, Ondo State.
The contingent of Polytechnics have started arriving in Ondo State for the 21st edition of NIPOGA.
Lagos State Polytechnic's top schools arrived early as about 2600 athletes from 40 institutions will compete in different sports.

The opening ceremony of the Games will be held on Saturday, January 14 with the closing ceremony slated for January 22.
We will provide adequate security - Rufus Giwa Polytechnic
The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State has assured that the institution will provide adequate security for all athletes and officials.
The Rector of the polytechnic Dr. Gani Ogundahunsi disclosed this at a press briefing to herald the commencement of the sporting fiesta.

He assured that all facilities are ready for the successful outing of the games, adding that the institution will give Nigerians a memorable sporting fiesta.
Ogundahunsi stated further that the sporting fiesta will unite all polytechnic students across the country.
He said, “All necessary facilities for the Games have been put in place, while work is still ongoing in some parts of the sports complex of the institution to make the fiesta a memorable one.
“The Games will facilitate national integration; it will bring our youths together for positive ventures that will create opportunities for them.
“NIPOGA is a sporting fiesta that unites 112 polytechnics across Nigeria, both federal and state polytechnics. It will have a positive impact on our image, we are very happy with the games, and we are not unconscious of some other issues that are very common with us in the nation now. So, we have as much as we can to take good care of all those things.
“We have a deal with all security agencies in the state, including our security unit on the campus. They will help us monitor the movement of our guests throughout their stay on campus, while the fiesta lasts.
“We want to assure the people that we have taken care of security issues in Owo, our host community. Security has been beefed up everywhere to protect everyone throughout this fiesta.”
Background of NIPOGA
NIPOGA Games is a biennial sporting event that involves all accredited polytechnics and colleges of technology in the country. The games were created to ensure peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and to discover and nurture sporting talents for national assignments from the polytechnics.

Yaba College of Technology is the most successful institution in the competition, having won the most gold medals on seven occasions.
The last edition was held at Kwara State Polytechnic.
