Uganda’s netball giants NIC Netball Club and the Uganda Prisons have set up an all-Ugandan grand finale at the East Africa Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.
NIC, the reigning regional champions and Prisons, the newly crowned Uganda Netball Super League champions, dominated the tournament in Nairobi, topping their groups after winning all four games at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
They, thus, faced the second-best team from either group.
In the semi-finals on Friday afternoon, NIC overcame Ulinzi, the Kenya army netball team, the tournament host.
NIC, the defending champions, carried the day, winning 54-27 to make it to the finals.
The second semi-finals encounter pitted Prisons against their Kenyan counterparts, Kenya Prisons Netball Club.
Uganda Prisons overcame the Kenyans, winning 55-36 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. The wardresses fought off a nervy start in the first stanza, winning 17-25.
They extended the lead by eight goals in the second half and increased their intensity in the third round to extend the lead by 13.
They wrapped up the excellent performance with a 55-36 win.
