Former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba celebrated his son Cheche's victory in the 2024 Kenya Rallycross Championship Cubs category.

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has lauded his son, Cheche Ababu, for claiming top honours at the 2024 Kenya Rallycross (RX) Championship.

The youngster emerged champion after beating a strong field in the Cubs category and the former sports CS could not hide his joy as he took to social media to laud the young lad for his exceptional talent.

Ababu Namwamba pointed out that the youngster surely deserved the win as he had burned the midnight oil and sacrificed a lot to ensure he was the best. The 13-year-old is certainly looking to be one of the big names when it comes to motorsports and is keenly following in the footsteps of his predecessors Karan Patel and Carl Tundo.

Namwamba believes that the academy he started while serving as Cabinet Secretary will help nurture young talent and breed future champions including his son. Being a champion of young talents, Namwamba showcased his intentionality as he launched the Talanta Hela Initiative to enable young stars to reap big from their talents.

Current Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen promised to continue with Ababu Namwamba’s great work and continue nurturing young talent.

“Congratulations, son, for winning the Kenya Rallycross (RX) Championship 2024 (Cubs). From start of the season, you have trained harder and demanded more of yourself than any 13-year-old I know, deftly balancing it all with school. You deserve your bouquet, no doubt, Master Che',” Ababu Namwamba wrote.

“Alongside your worthy rivals, Eann Bengi, Billy Tundo, Kramveer Rooprai, Allan Bengi and Tommy Kavenagh, you represent a bright spark for Kenyan motorsports. Am immensely proud of you, and do believe the Kenya Motorsports Academy I initiated while CS should breed even more talents. ',” he added.

Over the weekend, Ababu Namwamba was also present to cheer on his son and other youngsters who had gone to showcase their talents.

“Day 1 of the final round of the Kenya Rally Cross (RX) championship was fireeeee! We are cheering these incredible young talents, the future of Kenyan motorsports. Goooo lads! Today, we know the champions in the respective categories. Rye firmly on the ultimate PRIZE…,” he added.
