Karan Patel aims for Africa Rally Championship victory, holding second place with two rounds left, including the pivotal Rally Zambia.

Motorsports sensation Karan Patel is gearing up for a defining moment in his career as the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) title race intensifies.

Currently holding a close second place with 90 points, the pressure is on Karan and his co-driver, Tauseef Khan, to emerge victorious in the upcoming Rally Zambia.

Their recent triumph in Rwanda has only added fuel to the fire, sending the ARC title chase down to the last nail-biting races.

Speaking about their determination in a recent interview after Rally Rwanda, Karan declared his target as the championship enters its penultimate round.

"The target is always to win; any race we go to our aim is to win, we don't want to finish second. So whichever race we go to is to do our best and fortunately, our best for us now allows us to come out on top so we will see how long that lasts; hopefully, it does as long as we expect. We have two more rounds to go and we are looking forward to winning them both," he said.

Despite Karan's exceptional performance in recent years both locally and on the continental stage, the memory of last season's loss to Zambia’s Leroy Gomes looms large.

However, not all has been smooth sailing for the Kenyan rally ace as during Kenya National Rally Championship's Kajiado Rally, Karan faced some challenges.

Showing confidence in his equipment choice, Karan has opted to participate in the Rally Zambia driving powerful Ford Fiesta Rally 5 machine especially for this rally, indicating a strategic move to maximize his chances of success.

The competition is fierce, with Ugandan Yasin Nasser at 93 points, just edging ahead of Karan's 90 points, and Jas Magat, another Ugandan contender, not far behind with 87 points.

Joining Karan in representing Kenya in the Zambia Rally is another promising talent, Hamza Anwar, along with his co-driver Adnan Din. Like Karan, Hamza has chosen the Mitsubishi Evo X for the race, indicating a popular choice among the competitors.

As the rally world eagerly anticipates the Zambia event scheduled for the weekend of October 20-22, there is a palpable tension in the air. The event is crucial not only for its standalone value but also for how it will set the stage for the final leg of the championship in Tanzania come November.
