The Kenya ministry of Sports is already in full swing preparation for next year's World Rally Championship.
The Ministry of Sports has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally poised for March, 2025 cements Kenya's position on the global motorsport calendar while driving significant economic gains.
During a briefing with sponsors and partners on Friday, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen emphasized the government’s dedication to delivering a rally that prioritizes fan experience, safety, sustainability, and economic value.
"The Safari Rally has transcended sports to become a national heritage and a huge economic driver," Murkomen stated.
"Its return to the WRC calendar has provided us a unique platform to market our country to a global audience while significantly contributing to local businesses."
Murkomen highlighted that preparations for the 2025 event began earlier than in previous editions, reflecting an ambition to enhance the experience for fans and drivers while maintaining cost efficiency.
He acknowledged the critical role played by sponsors and partners, noting their contributions have elevated the Safari Rally to one of the most watched events on the WRC calendar.
The rally has not only been a spectacle for motorsport enthusiasts but also a catalyst for local economic growth, creating business opportunities for Kenyans.
Murkomen encouraged citizens to seize these opportunities while commending government agencies for their collaborative efforts with event organizers.
Echoing Murkomen’s sentiments, Sports Principal Secretary Engineer Peter Tum underscored the economic impact of the rally.
"The WRC is not only a sporting activity in this country; it is an economic driver in its own right. As we prepare for next year’s event, we assure Kenyans that the Ministry will prudently manage resources to bring down costs while improving the standards required of us," Tum said.
The Ministry’s focus on accountability and efficient resource management reflects its intent to ensure the Safari Rally continues to thrive as a symbol of national pride and an economic powerhouse.
Next year's edition will feature 12 designated spectator zones where fans can follow the proceedings.

The flag-off of the event which will also feature villages to enhance spectator experince has been moved from Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) to City Hall Way.
