Khan, who was equally a rally driver, died on December 18, 2022, after an alleged domestic misunderstanding.
Rally driver Maxine Wahome has been ordered to return to court on Tuesday, March 21 after denying charges of murdering her boyfriend Asad Khan.
Khan, who was a rally driver as well, died on December 18, 2022 after an alleged domestic misunderstanding.
Wahome denied the charge read to her virtually from Kilimani Police Station where she was being detained since March 7. After denying the charge the prosecution applied that she be detained at Langata Women's Prison.
As reported by Citizen Digital, Wahome claimed that on the fateful day, Khan violently woke her up in the morning and ordered that she leaves his house and that was when she was allegedly attacked.
She claims that she took refuge in the balcony of the apartment where the deceased attempted to break down the door using his feet.
“That the deceased thereafter injured himself on the balcony door window panes and took himself to the hospital... That I was advised by my parents not to leave the house and wait for the police,” she claims.
On Tuesday, March 14, Wahome's family insisted that she was innocent through their lawyer Philip Murgor and questioned the competence of the circumstances surrounding the case.
"Maxine is innocent, Maxine did not commit murder, Maxine did not commit any crime. I have reviewed every single fact and I cannot understand how a charge of murder was preferred. I cannot go into the merits because the matter is now before the court," Murgor said.
Murgor added that the case was to be dealt with as soon as possible to enable Wahome to carry on with her career considering many of her sponsors were withdrawing.
