According to Nigerian Stylebender Israel Adesanya made a mistake thinking South African Dricus Du Plessis was down in the 4th round of UFC 305.
In the main event of UFC 305 on August 17, Adesanya was defeated by Dricus Du Plessis by fourth-round submission, effectively ending his title chances.
Adesanya in Lagos
He didn't change his plans to go back to Nigeria in spite of the setback.
Adesanya arrived in Lagos to be met with rapturous crowds and traditional music, befitting a king or queen.
The African UFC star is having a great time in a number of fantastic social media posts that are currently going viral.
In one of the videos from Lagos, "The Last Stylebender" is surrounded by adoring followers as he enters a grocery store.
Another depicts Izzy singing at a church ceremony with his family. When word spread that Adesanya was in the vicinity on both occasions, the place was apparently flooded with supporters.
Adesanya and Sodiq Yusuff
Adesanya has now teamed up with fellow Nigerian UFC star Sodiq Yusuff in Lagos.
The Last Stylebender joined Yusuff for an amateur boxing event in Lagos
Along with a video, Yusuff thanked Adesanya for gracing the event.
He said, "Much respect to @stylebender for coming through and touching the people. This meant a lot for the community.
"Almost shed a tear when I heard a lady in the crowd say "ni ojo kan awon iyan ma tele omo emi na baye" meaning one day people are gonna follow my kid like this.
"That's what it's about. Inspiration."
Adesanya then responded , "Love you brother, thank you for today!"
Before posting a message that said, "Energy never dies, it can be passed on and amplified. ❤️🔥
"Bless the future, bless my people, their flame inspired me!"
Adesanya continues to enjoy Nigeria although there are reports he may soon be leaving for South Africa.
