Zico has impressed the K'Ogallo leadership since taking over in November and will be in charge until the end of the season before a decision will be made on his future.
Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno to lead Gor Mahia as head coach until the end of the season, club chairman Ambrose Rachier has confirmed.
Rachier reiterated that the former international full back has convinced the management since taking charge in November last year following the departure of Brazilian tactician Leonardo Neiva. Internal fights, squabbles with players, complaints by fans, compounded by poor performance led to the sacking of Neiva but Zico has steadied the K'Ogallo ship.

Ambrose Rachier: 33 foreign coaches apply for vacant Gor Mahia role but club in no rush to announce new coach
The club is bidding time to assess all the applicants before appointing a coach with the right profile after Leonardo Neiva's acrimonious exit
Rachier added that the record FKFPL champions have confidence in their interim coach. “As of now, we are not hiring a new Head coach. We are convinced that our interim coach Zedekiah Otieno is doing well with the team,’’ Rachier told Citizen Digital.
Zico has led Gor Mahia to five wins, one draw and two losses since taking over, to move within touching distance of the top spot. The league defending champions have amassed 24 points from 14 matches, three points behind leaders KCB who have played a game more.

Gor Mahia lose Ugandan transfer target to Rwandan giants in dramatic move
Gor Mahia have missed out on a top Ugandan transfer target, with Rwandan giants swooping in to secure his signature.
Zico is a proven coach having previously tutored national team Harambee Stars, 2009 champions Sofapaka, Ruaraka-based KCB, as well as Gor Mahia.
"We have decided to give the interim coaches time. Come end of the season, we shall gauge their performance before we can make a new decision. But if they meet our expectations, we will surely not need a foreign coach," Rachier added.
Gor is the first and only team from Kenya to win an African continental title to date, having won the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1987 after previously reaching the final in 1979.
